Halloween is a perfect time to have fun with new words. Little ones love pumpkins, friendly ghosts and bats, and saying them in another language makes it even more exciting.

We’ve made a free set of Halloween cards for families. They show “Happy Halloween” and three spooky words in French, Spanish, German, Italian and Mandarin, and every word comes with an easy “say it” guide in English. You don’t need to speak another language to join in.

Inside you’ll find:

– “Happy Halloween” in 5 languages
– Pumpkin, ghost and bat in each language
– A simple pronunciation guide for every word

How to use them at home
– Keep it playful. Point to the picture and say the word slowly. Toddlers learn by hearing first, so there’s no need for them to repeat it straight away.
– Pick one language. Choose the one your family likes best and stick with it for the week.
– Play spotto. On a Halloween walk, every time you see a pumpkin, say it in your chosen language together!
